The name JAH BENG thunders in REGGAE MUSIC circles. To his credit, this Artist has TWO HIGHLY ACCLAIMED ALBUMS. His debut CD, CRY FOR THE CHILDREN (1998) and his sophomore album entitled RIVER OF HEALING (2005) ranks among the best works in the genre. The current album has spawned TWO SOLID SINGLES AND THE ACCOMPANYING MUSIC VIDEOS entitled ‘BIGGEST PART OF ME’ and ‘JAHOVAH’. The videos and singles are being played extensively throughout the world. In addition, he is an exceptional perfromer. His ENIGMATIC aura, HUMILITY , CHARISMA and ELECTRIFYING STAGE PRESENCE has won him MANY FANS. As a result, he has HEADLINED NUMEROUS SHOWS.
He has also been invited to open up for Reggae legends including MAXI PRIEST, ABYSSINIANS, LUCIANO and BUJU BANTON. While he is now an accomplised Artist at the forefront of the Reggae scene, JAH BENG’S musical trek began in his early childhood days in less than ideal circumstances.
Born in TRENCH TOWN, JAMAICA ,JAH BENG spent his childhood years in this impoverished western Kingston ghetto. This area was made famous by the legendary BOB MARLEY & THE WAILERS . Steeped in RASTAFARIAN culture and inextricably bound to Reggae music, TRENCH TOWN was JAH BENG’S training ground. He continually heeded the spiritual teachings of the Rasta Elders. Alone, in quiet places, he repeatedly sung their SONGS OF REVOLUTION AND REDEMPTION. In the ghetto, harsh reality was ejected by the Rasta Man’s vibration and incessantly buffeted by thunderous SONGS OF FREEDOM . JAH BENG tuned in and found the rhythm of his soul and the path to his destiny. His musical odyssey had just begun.
JAH BENG’S journey continued as he grew into his adolescence. Strengthened by the philosophy of RASTAFARI and the music of the ghetto. JAH BENG held fast to his roots and culture. He had internalized the teachings and sounds of his early youth. Through faithful practice he had begun to develop what would become a prolific ability to pen his own SPELL BINDING LYRICS. A POWERFUL VOICE to express his words in CAPTIVATING MELODIES was solidified after a few years spent in a couple of bands he had formed with his high school colleagues. By the time he met the extraordinary producer/songwriter and bassist, CHARLES ‘TOWER’ SINCLAIR, (of the famed MESSENJAH & KORNERSTONE PRODUCTIONS) his musical skills were well honed. This collaboration resulted in VAST SUCCESS. Much ADMIRATION and RESPECT from the Reggae music fraternity worldwide soon followed.
